THE SHORT VERSION
Our verdict
The EBC100 addresses a different problem from a replacement wall adapter: it lets an SDS100 owner charge a spare outside the receiver. That is useful when the scanner is in service and a second battery needs replenishing. The manufacturer's kit description includes a battery, so compare package contents carefully before also ordering a separate BPS100. This is a convenience purchase for a regular battery rotation; someone who leaves the scanner on external power may get less benefit from an additional dock.

Fit and function
Uniden lists an external dock, BT954 extended battery pack and AC adapter in the EBC100 kit. It states an approximate full-charge time for a depleted pack, but that is manufacturer information rather than our own timing test. We do not extend fit to SDS150.
The buying decision
Allocate a stable place for the charger and check what happens to the spare while you travel. A rotation works best when the charging routine is obvious and packs are not mixed with loose metal objects. Read the dock's indicator and charging instructions rather than assuming it behaves like a generic phone charger. If you are buying a used kit, inventory all three components and inspect their condition. A low purchase price is less attractive when a missing supply or aging battery must immediately be replaced.
