THE SHORT VERSION
Our verdict
Whistler's tuned antenna is a more deliberate choice than buying the longest replacement available. The manufacturer identifies a 700–960 MHz focus and lists both WS1040 and TRX-1. That makes it a candidate when those are the bands you actually use. It should not be promoted as the best antenna for all listening: someone concentrating on aviation or another band has a different problem. The stated seven-inch length also deserves attention if the radio is carried in a small bag or on a belt.
A good fit for

Reasons to consider it
- Clearly stated frequency focus
- Specific supported handhelds

Fit and function
The official page identifies this as an OEM tuned antenna and names WS1040, WS1080, WS1088 and TRX-1 among compatible receivers. Its claims about clearer or stronger signals are manufacturer claims, not measurements from our own comparative reception test.
The buying decision
A useful purchase comparison starts with your existing antenna, the channels you monitor and the way you carry the receiver. If current reception is already reliable, a band-focused alternative may add little practical value. If the desired system is difficult to receive, first confirm that the radio and programming support it. Keep the old antenna for comparison rather than immediately treating the replacement as an improvement. Additional antenna length can be an everyday inconvenience even when it is acceptable at a desk.
