THE SHORT VERSION
Our verdict
Whistler's base-scanner adapter is the sensible starting point when the correct supply for a WS1065 or TRX-2 is missing. It gives the buyer a defined compatibility route instead of encouraging trial and error with a drawer of wall adapters. That does not remove the need to inspect the actual delivered label and plug. A working original normally needs no replacement; a second supply is most useful when a radio regularly moves between two established listening positions.
A good fit for
WS1065 or TRX-2 owners restoring a fixed listening setup

Fit and function
The manufacturer describes the adapter for 13.8-volt DC base/mobile scanners and explicitly names WS1065 and TRX-2, alongside related models. The handheld WS1040 is not included in that fit recommendation. Confirm all electrical and connector requirements in the receiver instructions.
The buying decision
Treat a missing supply as part of the purchase cost when comparing used radios. A cheap receiver with incomplete accessories may cost more to make usable than a complete example. Once the correct adapter is established, avoid swapping it between unrelated devices merely because a plug seems to fit. Inspect cable condition and arrange the supply so the lead is not pulled tight. The main benefit here is a predictable power setup; no reception, audio or decoding improvement has been demonstrated by this review.
