THE SHORT VERSION
Our verdict
This four-inch Whistler antenna is primarily a practical replacement for a portable receiver. Its case is strongest when the original is missing or damaged and keeping the radio compact matters. The shorter arrangement can be easier to live with than a long whip, although we have not measured a reception trade-off between them. A current antenna that already works well is not an obvious reason to buy this one. Choose it for the documented fit and size, and investigate band-focused alternatives separately if reception is the real concern.

Fit and function
Whistler lists WS1010, WS1040, WS1080, WS1088 and TRX-1 among the supported models. The page describes a four-inch semi-flexible rubberized antenna. It does not supply an independent comparative test or a guaranteed reception distance.
The buying decision
Consider how much space you have around the receiver when walking, sitting or packing it away. A portable antenna is part of the handling experience, not just a specification. Check the condition of the mounting socket and avoid forcing a part whose connector does not engage correctly. If you are replacing a missing antenna on a used scanner, confirm the radio works and supports the local system before spending further on accessories. Restoring the original arrangement is useful; it cannot fix an unsuitable receiver purchase.
