THE SHORT VERSION
Our verdict
Uniden's telescopic antenna is worth considering for a scanner that mainly stays on a desk. Adjustable length gives the user a different practical arrangement from a short flexible antenna, but the manufacturer’s general improvement language is not a measured result for your location. The purchase makes most sense when you need a replacement or want to experiment with an easily adjusted indoor setup. Portability is the trade-off: an extended metal whip is less convenient around bags, children or crowded work surfaces.

Fit and function
BATG0540001 has a BNC connector. Uniden lists models including BC125AT, BCD160DN, BCD260DN, BCD325P2, BCD536HP, BCD996P2, BCT15X, SDS200 and SR30C. Mechanical connection does not expand a receiver's supported frequencies or decoding formats.
The buying decision
Leave room above and behind the scanner before choosing this design. A shelf that looks wide enough for the radio may not allow comfortable antenna adjustment. Compare reception with the existing antenna in the same position and on the same desired transmissions before judging the change. Avoid making a permanent conclusion from a single brief transmission. If the receiver must live in a cabinet, a separately positioned antenna could solve the placement problem more directly than a longer antenna mounted at the cabinet's rear.
